The Montfort Loop

Departing from our guest house, La Barde Montfort, the Montfort loop walk takes you through the different landscapes of our village of Vitrac.

Your first steps will take you to the charming hamlet of Montfort. You’ll continue through the undergrowth, where you’ll have a fine view of Montfort castle, followed by a panoramic view of the Vitrac valley. Halfway along the route, you’ll come to Vitrac Bourg, and make a slight diversions to get closer to the church and its beautiful houses. Then take the path that leads to the cemetery and the entrance to the Domaine de Rochebois. The narrow road takes you past the Rochebois golf course and the La Sagne campsite. A few metres further on, you’ll come to the banks of the Dordogne and a magnificent view of the Caudon cliffs. At the Caudon beach, where the Soleil Plage canoe base (our partner) is located, take a small road that crosses the Soleil Plage campsite and leads to a small path on the plain. Climb back up through the undergrowth to reach the small road that runs behind our garden.
