Saint-Cirq Lapopie
Voted ‘Favourite Village of the French’ in 2012
Saint-Cirq Lapopie
Right in the heart of the Lot, Saint-Cirq Lapopie dominates the valley from its rocky peak. Set between the Causse and the river, this elegant and majestic village boasts a breathtaking view that you can admire from its vantage point. Ranked as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, it was also voted ‘Le village préféré des Français’ (the French people’s favourite village) in 2012, in the TV programme presented by Stéphane Bern.
Saint-Cirq Lapopie boasts a varied heritage; a small village of 200 inhabitants with a wealth of heritage resources and listed buildings. Visiting Saint-Cirq is like strolling back in time through the village’s many charming narrow streets.
You can start your walk either at the top of the village, with its spectacular view over the Lot valley, or at the bottom of the village, with its superb Gothic church built over a Romanesque chapel. Don’t hesitate to enter this extraordinary building, which exudes an incredible sense of serenity.
