Marqueyssac, a walk through thousands of centenary box trees
In the “Jardins de Marqueyssac”, a 6km walk takes you through 150 000 centenary hand-prune box trees, to a splendid view on the Dordogne Valley.
From the entrance of the garden, you will discover its pleasure Château from the 18th Century, open on the park and equipped with a diarist layout reserved to home pleasure.
The winding paths of the garden and the box trees roundnesses impart to the garden a romanticism you will rediscover every Thursday evening of summer for the event “Marqueyssac aux chandelles”. Many candles and light sources sparkle like diamonds in the garden and some music activities are proposed for the happiness and wonder of its visitors.
Gardens are open every day of the year and you will find all the practical information here. The visit is free and can be completed with a guided tour. Good to know : it’s possible to couple your visit with the one of the Castelnaud castle with a 1euro discount.

With a 6km walk, the visit lasts 1.30 hour and some places aren’t shady. Moreover, the difference in height is quite important for people who don’t get used to walking. We advise you to visit the garden in the morning in enjoying the day coolness, the morning light but also to have a picnic in the garden (play area, some workshops and climbing initiation are proposed for your children great pleasure and without extra !).
