Proumeyssac, crystal Cathedral
During the 18th Century, Proumeyssac was famous about its legends, but it was only explored in 1907. Today, it’s the biggest converted cavity of Perigord. Many crystallization treasures are hidden in the whole abyss; you will discover 40 meters height 4 superb monumental concretions several tons each, that decorate the vault.

Finally, the abyss received the “Tourism and handicap” label and permits to disabled person going down until a balcony that overlooks the bottom of the cave.

This spectacular site takes you for a very beautiful walk, through small paths between stalactites and stalagmites, enjoying a sound and light show. Just magic !
In 1907, visitors went down of the cave 3 per 3 persons with the help of a basket activated with a horse. Today, you can discover the same feeling thanks to bigger mechanical basket and enjoy a 360° view of the abyss. Of course, this service is in addition to the price of the visit.
