Monpazier, defense stronghold !
To enter in the Monpazier fortified town, you will overtake its outer wall, thanks to one of its 3 “door-towers” located at the main town access. Monpazier was a stronghold town with a quality defense system : deadfall, leaf, works from the early 14th Century protected by a portcullis, destroyed under Richelieu.
At the end of the street, you will arrive on the village square, the “Place des Cornières”. It was a trading and justice site. All around the square, 23 houses with open porticos, constructed during the 13th and 17th centuries, form shops.

Monpazier is a charming fortified town, so different than Domme. We recently decided to go there to enjoy yard sale organized on the square and in some little streets. It’s how we discovered antique dealers IN the town and we made beautiful finds !
