Puymartin, the White Lady legend

Built during the 13th Century and destroyed during the Hundred Years War, the Château was rebuilt in 1450 by Rodolphe de Saint-Clar. Since this period, Puymartin has belong to the same family not without having suffer conflicts, wars and disagreements.

The Château conservation within the same family explains the presence of many family goods, furniture, tapestries and paintings. During the visit, you will discover mythological cabinet, unique in Perigord; mythological sceneries represented with frescos on wooden panels, that certainly will remind you the ones of our night hall.

Puymartin is a very nice castle, with period furnitures and pretty turrets. It’s especially famous with the ghost who would haunt its North tower; the one of the White Lady. Thérèse de Saint-Clar was incarcerated by her husband in this tower, died there and walled up. Her spirit showed itself yet… Maybe will you also feel its presence…
